At Citadel Re, the principal objective of our investment operations is the safe investment of the funds we set aside to fulfill our reinsurance obligations. We use a combination of our own in-house expertise along with external advisers to make our investment decisions. We also seek to take active roles in insurance related entities and are prepared to capitalise insurance companies, managing general agents and self-insurance entities such as risk retention groups. We have, for example, recently capitalised a workers compensation company in Maine (Great Falls Insurance Company), and will continue to investigate opportunities within the insurance industry that require capital.
